The New York Yankees suffered another devastating defeat at the hands of the Mariners on Tuesday night, thanks in part to their own blunders.

Baserunning blunders are impossible to overcome, even for the most talented of teams. The New York Yankees are one of those teams, despite their recent struggles.

The Yanks are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and the post All-Star Break stretch has not been kind to them. The dog days of August have been particularly unkind to Aaron Boone and Co.

On a West Coast road trip, the Yankees could use a victory. The Mariners weren’t in a giving mood on Tuesday.

In a 1-0 ballgame, there was little margin for error for the M’s. Luis Castillo pitched eight scoreless innings, matching Gerrit Cole frame-for-frame.

Yankees blunders catch up with them against Mariners

New York’s baserunning blunders were all compiled on social media, and they look brutal now that baseball fans know the end result.

The clip starts with Aaron Judge inexplicably getting thrown out trying to steal second base to end the seventh inning. Judge, of all players, ought to know better than to make the last out at second base.

Fast forward to the tenth inning, when the lead Yanks baserunner was thrown out on his way to third base. The list goes on, as does the clip.

A frustrating stretch for New York baseball fans continued as a result. Better it happen in August than October, of course, but the Yankees are starting to show a few chinks in their armor.
