Freddie Freeman’s success with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season is bittersweet for Atlanta Braves fans still rooting him on.

The biggest divorce in Major League Baseball from last winter was between Freddie Freeman and the Atlanta Braves. He ended up with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he might have a slightly better chance at winning back-to-back World Series rings.

Regardless of the final outcome of where the two clubs finish, his dominance in Hollywood this year is definitely bittersweet for Braves fans.

How good has Freeman been? Rowan Kavner of FOX Sports did the math and Freeman could go hitless in his next 125 at-bats and still have a better batting average than the league average.

Freddie Freeman is having a great year for the Dodgers and it’s an odd feeling for Braves fans

The breakup between Freeman and the Braves wasn’t a bad one. We saw how much he loved playing in Atlanta when he returned there with the Dodgers earlier this season. Freeman loved his teammates, the coaches, and especially the fans. It stands to reason that many who cheer on the Braves are also routinely checking in on how the Dodgers first baseman is performing.

Freeman has been at a different level this year with the Dodgers. After Sunday’s game, he’s now batting .325 on the season. It definitely helps to be in a lineup with other stars. As good as many of his Braves teams were, none quite compare to the Dodgers this year.

Exactly how should Braves fans who still have a Freeman jersey in their closet feel about this? It’s like seeing your ex you ended things with amicably find a new partner and land their dream job.

It’s okay for Braves fans to silently root for Freeman right now. It’s when the Dodgers and Braves face each other in the postseason when the real debate will rage.

Braves fans rooting against Freddie Freeman in October? Even just a few months ago, no one would have ever imagined it.
