With only eight participants in the MLB Home Run Derby each season, there are always some players that fans would like to see that either turn down the opportunity or are snubbed.

The 2022 MLB Home Run Derby will have eight participants on Monday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. There are eight great participants that should provide plenty of entertainment for both fans in person and on TV.

Here are the participants and the seeding for them.

  • 1. Kyle Schwarber, Phillies vs. 8. Albert Pujols, Cardinals
  • 4. Juan Soto, Nationals vs. 5. José Ramírez, Guardians
  • 3. Corey Seager, Rangers vs. 6. Julio Rodríguez, Mariners
  • 2. Pete Alonso, Mets vs. 7. Ronald Acuña, Jr., Braves

But there are a lot players that we wish were involved in it as well but we have boiled it down to the top three players that we’d love to see in the MLB Home Run Derby.

3) Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton

New York Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t participated in a Home Run Derby in a few years but when he participated in 2014, 2016, and 2017, he was awesome for fans to watch.

Between the three Derbies, he hit 83 home runs and at the 2016 Home Run Derby at Petco Park in San Diego, he won it all. Stanton struggled with injuries in both 2019 and 2020 but he was healthy and 2021 and he has been healthy this year, hitting some of the hardest bombs in the sport.

On the 2022 season, Stanton has hit .237/.319/.516 with an OPS+ of 136. He also has 24 home runs and 61 RBI. That home run total is third in the American League, entering Sunday. He also was selected as an All-Star.
