These three early Boston Red Sox trade rumors need to become a reality.
Boston Red Sox trade rumors have shifted from Beantown’s baseball club going from sellers to buyers. J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, and everyone else is no longer available. Boston is going for it.
The Red Sox aren’t quite fully-equipped to match what some of the other elite teams in baseball can do. The New York Yankees appear invincible while the Red Sox have already shown an ability to struggle in spite of some incredible performances from their top players.
Late June’s Red Sox trade rumors remain a little more speculative than they will by next month. Soon enough, we will have a better idea of who could be heading to the Red Sox roster by the August 2 trade deadline.
3. Red Sox trade rumors to turn into reality: Josh Bell
Having a need to upgrade at first base isn’t such a bad thing considering how few teams actually do have a massive hole at this position. This could turn the Red Sox into one of the lone buyers at the position although many other teams could still consider a first baseman for a DH role or move their current guy somewhere else in favor of a defensive upgrade.
As far as trade candidates go, Josh Bell of the Washington Nationals might be one of the best out there. He has hit all season for the lowly Nationals. On the Red Sox, he could be a fantastic addition for their playoff run.
Bell is capable of hitting for average and for power. A pure rental, the Red Sox could clear the way for Triston Casas next season or even look to retain Bell. With J.D. Martinez also a free agent this winter, they will have an opening at the DH spot.
Trading for Bell would dramatically upgrade the first base spot over Bobby Dalbec whose struggles this year have paved the way for more appearances from Franchy Cordero.
Washington absolutely needs to trade Bell this summer. The Red Sox need to make any rumors about a deal for him come true.
