Watch this young fan get his Cody Bellinger-thrown baseball stolen from him by an adult.

All this young Philadelphia Phillies fan wanted was a baseball thrown to him by Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger.

All game long, this young Phillies fan was hoping for the former NL MVP to throw him a baseball. When Bellinger finally let one fly into the Citizens Bank Park bleachers, it overshot this 10-year-old’s mitt by only a few inches. Not only did he fail to haul in the baseball, but an older adult fan took that souvenir for himself, crushing the spirit of the young fan in attendance. This is not right.

Watch this video of the moment in question and you have to feel bad for the young baseball fan.

Adult fan steals a Cody Bellinger baseball intended for a younger fan

No, it should not be this hard, but when an adult gets a foul ball, or one thrown into the stands in their vicinity in this case, give it to a kid. While some may argue that there are no free handouts in life, we have an obligation as a society to take care of the younger generation. When that child grows up and he finds himself in a similar situation as this, he will have the heart to pay it forward.

That ball would have been a prized possession, and one he would have brought with him one day in the hopes that Bellinger would sign it. Though the Dodgers and Phillies will find a way to rectify this wrong made in the stands, again, it should not have to be this hard. Baseball is America’s pastime, but the last thing MLB will want is for another fan to be turned off by the aging sport.

In the City of Brotherly Love of all places, one would think a little compassion would go a long way.
