Boston Red Sox fans probably won’t be too fond with Major League Baseball umpires after a pretty notable botched strikeout call.
Go ahead and add Boston Red Sox fans to the fairly long list of people who aren’t pleased with the performance of some Major League Baseball umpires this season. It seems like there have been several different instances of umpires messing up a call this season and here is just one more.
In the top of the 6th inning of the Red Sox’ game against the Atlanta Braves, Boston had the bases loaded with two outs. In what should have been a walk, which would have given the Red Sox a 4-3 lead over Atlanta, the umpire called a strikeout, despite the fact that the ball was, well, a little too close to the dirt for that to actually be a strikeout.
Here’s the very questionable strikeout in question here.
If that seems bad, that’s because it is bad! It’s definitely not good!
Boston Red Sox fans have the right to be incensed after egregious strikeout call
The Red Sox and their fans have every right possible to be angry about these shenanigans. This messed up strikeout call is pretty bad and MLB umps should be better than this, but yet they clearly aren’t.
And Red Sox fans are among those that aren’t amused.
And of course, robot umps are now a very important topic to be had.
What a mess.
Seriously, there’s no reason for this to happen at this level of baseball. Add it to the somewhat numerous other instances of umpires making pretty notable errors and things seem to be pretty bad! They should not be this bad!
