The Home Run King played his entire big-league career in Milwaukee and Atlanta, first with the Braves and then returning to Wisconsin to play for the Brewers. Aaron was already a perennial NL All-Star, an MVP and a World Series champion by the time the Braves relocated to Milwaukee in the late 1960s. Though the Braves only made the NL postseason twice prior to the Team of the ’90s era, Aaron’s 715th home run remains one of the greatest moments in the history of MLB. Nearly 50 years ago, the moment carries a ton of weight.

Aaron passed away shortly before the 2021 MLB season. Fate would have it, Atlanta would go on to win its first World Series championship in 26 years that campaign, beating Milwaukee in the NLDS along the way. Only a year and change removed from his death, look for Atlanta, Milwaukee and the rest of baseball to find new and creative ways to honor its former greatest ambassador.

Having Hank Aaron Weekend twice annually is a great way for these teams to help enact change.
