Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado posted a cryptic message on Twitter on Friday, and fans are wondering if it is related to Carlos Correa.

Some of the big name free agents remaining when the MLB lockout have signed with new teams. Freddie Freeman signed on with the Los Angeles Dodgers while Kris Bryant joined the Colorado Rockies. Perhaps the biggest star remaining on the open market is shortstop Carlos Correa.

On Friday, Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado tweeted out the “eyeballs emoji,” leaving the fanbase asking if it was related to Correa.

Did Martin Maldonado hint at looming Carlos Correa move?

Maldonado has done this before during the offseason. Just last week, the catcher posted a photo of himself and Correa with a caption reading “talking business.”

Once the MLB lockout ended, Astros owner Jim Crane did tell Fox 26’s Mark Berman that the team would circle around back to the shortstop in free agency. Sure enough, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported this past week that the Astros were planning to make another offer to Correa and that it was “creating buzz in camp.”

Correa is coming off a strong 2021 season, where he won the Gold Glove and Platinum Glove awards for the first time in his career. He batted .279, owned an OPS of .851 and recorded 26 home runs and 92 RBI through 148 regular-season games. That, and his play helped Houston reach the World Series for the third time in five years.

With Opening Day slated to begin on Apr. 7, Astros fans want to know where Correa will play this season. They certainly hope it will be in Houston.
