Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Justin Turner made it clear he’s wanted Freddie Freeman suiting up with him for quite some time.

The lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers is going to be absolutely insane next season. That’s the case now that Freddie Freeman has signed his monster deal with the club, only boosting their World Series odds.

It looks like a big assist for that signing goes to Justin Turner. Turner revealed that he’s been trying to convince Freeman to be a Dodgers for the past five years. With this, Turner is thrilled that things finally got done this offseason.

That quote from Turner should fire up the LA fanbase. Freeman had plenty of suitors this offseason, with him being linked heavily to the Yankees, a reunion with the Braves and more. Once Atlanta agreed to the blockbuster trade to land Matt Olson, the door closed for him to head back to the Braves.

With that Olson trade, the chatter grew louder and louder that Freeman could potentially make his way to the Dodgers. Things got over the finish line, with Freeman signing a six-year deal with the NL West powerhouse worth $162 million.

Freeman has been with Atlanta since 2010, earning five All-Star nods and belting 271 homers. He was a fan favorite for the team, with the news of him joining LA rocking the city. There was hope from the Braves faithful that he’d be back, but Turner has gotten his wish and Freeman is now headed for the sunshine in California.

Turner is getting ready for his ninth season with the Dodgers, with him and the clubhouse eyeing another World Series title. Freeman very well could prove to be the difference maker in getting that goal accomplished.
